Blood pressure in Cary NC

My Number is 130/80. What does that mean?

Almost everyone is familiar with sticking their arm out and pulling up their sleeve at the doctors office to get their blood pressure in Cary checked. The two numbers reflect two points of pressure in your arteries. The first number called systolic is a reflection of the pressure created when your heart contracts pumping a surge of blood through the blood vessel. The second number called diastolic measures is a reflection of the pressure in between heart beats. This tells the doctor how much resistance is in the blood vessels. So lets talk numbers.

So what does chiropractic have to do with helping my blood pressure?
Chiropractors are trained to understand the relationship between the structure of your spine and the function of your nervous system. Between every bone of your spine is a nerve that comes out on the left and right. Each nerve is very specific too. When a bone becomes misaligned and creates pressure on the nerve this is called a subluxation. If a subluxation happens to a nerve that regulates blood pressure it would be expected to see abnormal changes to blood pressure.

The Research
A pilot study conducted in the Journal of Human Hypertension drew attention to chiropractic from the medical community. The study concluded that a restoration of Atlas alignment (the top bone of the neck) is associated with marked and sustained reductions in BP similar to the use of two-drug combination therapy.
